Get referred to Amex UK

1. To be referred, you will need an Amex UK referral link. You can ask your friends and family, or simply use ours by clicking our Amex referral link. You will always receive the full referral reward when using one of our links.
2. Upon clicking the link you will be redirected to the Amex UK site.
3. While the link will suggest a particular card, you are free to browse the site and select whichever card best suits your particular financial goals or requirements.
4. On this page you will also find the steps required to unlock your bonus Avios or Membership Reward Points. This will generally involve being approved for the card and then meeting a spending requirement within a certain timeframe (e.g. spending £1000 on the card within 3 months).
5. Your referral bonus will be credited to your account once you have met these requirements.

Refer a Friend to Amex UK

1. To begin, visit the Amex UK refer a friend page. Here you will find terms and conditions and eligibility conditions.
2. If you scroll down the page you will find a section headed “Select your card”. Here you can use the slider to discover how many Membership Reward Points or Avios you will be rewarded with for referring a new customer.
3. When you are ready to proceed, click the button labelled “Invite now”. At this point you will need to log into your Amex UK account by providing your username and password or your card details.
4. You will now find your unique American Express referral code, along with methods for sharing this with your friends and family or on social media.
5. Ensure to tell those that you refer to Amex that they will receive a bonus by using your link. Whilst you can only recommend the card you have, your friend can apply for whichever card that best suits their own requirements.

Pros: We found the Amex refer a friend scheme to be easy to take advantage of and the bonus point rewards in particular can be extremely generous and attractive to frequent travellers and shoppers. While the number of referrals you can make is not unlimited, we believe that it’s unlikely many people will be looking to refer more than 23 people in the space of a year. The referral site is easy to navigate and eligibility and redemption information is clearly displayed. You can earn up to 90,000 Avios or Membership Rewards points each year, which is a great way to make the most of your Amex card’s additional perks.

Cons: While we wholeheartedly recommend the Amex refer a friend programme, we do believe that there’s room for improvement. It’s currently difficult to ascertain how close your referred friends are to meeting the bonus eligibility requirements. These requirements can also be quite steep on some cards, with a minimum spend requirement to hit within 3 months of signing up. We also found that the cashback card rewards are a little stingier, with £150 per year being the top reward. Rewards can also be quite slow to process, with up to ten weeks being reported by some users.

• The Basic Amex card is not eligible for any reward. Be sure to browse the range of cards via the referral link provided so you can be sure that a referral reward is available.
• Newly referred customers who have previously held a Membership Rewards-enrolled American Express Card or a British Airways American Express Card product within the past 24 months may not be eligible for some rewards.
• The maximum number of Avios, Membership Rewards, Nectar points or other bonus points that can be earned in a calendar year is 90,000. Cashback products are limited to a maximum of £150 bonus cashback per calendar year.
• There is an un-stated limit to the number of friends that can be successfully referred during a 30 day period and rewards that exceed this limit are likely to be cancelled.
