1. To refer a friend, start by visiting the Hargreaves Lansdown refer a friend page and clicking the button labelled “LOG IN TO RECOMMEND A FRIEND”.
2. Once you have logged in you will find your personalised referral link, along with a variety of optiosn for sharing it with friends and family.
3. Share your unique referral link with your friends and family, reminding them that you will both be rewarded should they sign up as a new HL client. Each friend that you successfully refer is worth a £100 cash reward for both yourself and the new customer.
4. Your newly referred friends will need to arrange a callback from a HL advisor to discuss the range of services, then sign and return the adviser charge agreement to confirm both their arrangement with HL and the referral.
5. Once the referral has been made you will receive your £100 cash reward in your Loyalty Bonus Account within the last 15 working days of the following month.

Pros: For clients of Hargreaves Lansdown this is a generous offer, with £100 up for grabs for both the referrer and the new client. The rewards are issued promptly, being credited towards the end of the following month once the referral is confirmed. While HL operate the referral scheme themselves it is simple to use and there’s little chance of the referral being credited incorrectly or being missed. Even better, HL clients are eligible to benefit from the scheme as soon as they sign up and there’s no limit to the number of friends that can be referred or rewards earned.

Cons: The scheme relies on the new customer arranging a call-back with a HL advisor, which could be missed. There’s also no guarantees that interested friends will find a service that is suitable for their particular financial needs. Lastly, the programme is only open to existing HL customers, so there’s no way to benefit from the rewards without first becoming a client.
